IMSD Program

The Initiative for Maximizing Student Development (IMSD) at Loma Linda University is a T32 program funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of General Medical Sciences. Established in 2001 through an R25 mechanism, PhD students accepted into the IMSD program receive tuition stipend and other support during the first three years of enrollment in the Integrated Biomedical Graduate Studies Program in the School of Medicine.

IMSD Program Overview

The IMSD fellows meet regularly and participate in specialized enrichment evidence-based activities to complement and enhance their graduate experience at Loma Linda University, including:

  • Guidance and support in publishing peer-reviewed research articles
  • Seminars on health disparities and biomedical research topics
  • One-on-one mentoring from outstanding scientists (view IMSD Mentor List)
  • Networking with other program participants, physicians, and health professionals
  • Support to attend national meetings
  • Career development workshops and seminars
